Emergency Dentist - Teeth Whitening Sydney - Cosmetic Dentistry Sydney
Your smile is one of the first things people will notice about you, so it is important to feel confident enough to show it off. The dentists and staff at Dr David Young and Associates, Sydney are dedicated to enhancing and maintaining your best possible smile with cosmetic dentistry and teeth whitening treatments, whilst ensuring your visits are as comfortable and anxiety-free as possible.
Oral Hygiene
The most important aspects of oral hygiene include brushing and flossing, a healthy diet, and regular dental checkups. The best thing about regular checkups is that if problems are detected early, the treatment required is likely to be a lot easier, cheaper and less complex than running to an emergency dentist. Regular dental checkups are also the best way to prevent tooth decay and gum disease, as well as enabling the early diagnosis of any diseases of the soft tissues and jaw.
Periodontics/Gum treatment
Red, puffy gums that bleed easily when brushing or flossing, and bad breath are possible signs of gum disease. Gingivitis, an early sign of gum disease, usually presents as red, bleeding gums, and is easily reversed, with regular professional cleaning and correct brushing and flossing techniques. Periodontitis is a chronic, more serious infection, affecting the gums and the bone that supports the teeth. Treatment is essential, as severe periodontal disease can result in tooth loss.
Paediatric Dentistry
It is important for children to have the right start with respect to their teeth. Dr David Young and his associates in Sydney can help ensure your child has a positive dental experience, with regular dental evaluations to assess your child's needs and provide the highest level of prevention and treatment as they grow. As a guide, we recommend children have their 1st dental checkup by the time they have all their baby teeth (Approximately by 2 years of age.) Endodontic Therapy/Root Canal Treatment
This involves the removal of the pulp/nerve from within a particular tooth, followed by sealing the cavity. This may be required when the pulp becomes diseased or injured though decay or trauma, and is often associated with pain or darkening of the tooth, but sometimes the nerve may die without any noticeable symptoms. Following root canal therapy, a final covering is usually placed to protect the tooth, as root treated teeth are more susceptible to fracture and colour change.
Cosmetic Dentistry/ Dental Crowns & Bridges/ Veneers/ Dental Implants/ Teeth Whitening
Cosmetic dentistry in Sydney and all over the world has become increasingly popular, with many people wanting to improve the appearance of their smile for a number of reasons:
- Antibiotics used in some children (tetracycline staining)
- Broken down teeth or restorations due to age, dental health or trauma
- Dietary habits (tea, coffee & smoking) can cause staining and yellowing of teeth
- Inherited traits – Family history of misaligned teeth, gaps, missing teeth and blemishes.
Our surgery offers a variety of modern cosmetic dentistry procedures to transform or enhance your smile and confidence, taking years off the way you look and feel. These include: dental implants, crowns and bridges, veneers, teeth whitening, tooth coloured fillings and orthodontic treatment. Dentures
Missing teeth can cause aesthetic and functional problems. Dentures can be a way to improve a person’s appearance and their ability to eat and speak more comfortably.
Mouthguards
Prevention is better than cure, and most dental accidents that require an emergency dentist occur during sporting activities. Discuss a mouthguard with our dentists, and they can have one custom made for the best possible protection.
Night guards/splints
Night guards/splints are worn for the treatment of teeth grinding and clenching, which mainly occur at night. Without the protection of a splint, teeth can become worn or chipped, and jaw and joint problems may become apparent.
Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Appliances
One in five of all Australian adults will experience snoring during their lifetime. Often an irritation to loved ones, snoring can also be associated with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. If you or your partner are troubled by snoring, ask one of our dentists about an appliance that may give some relief. For more information, please refer to our informative articles on Sleep Apnoea in adults, click here (page 4 of newsletter), and in children, click here (page 4 of newsletter).
